SOUTH LAKE TAHOE - 2004

December 4 thru December 14th

It seemed like it took forever to get from Corpus to Tahoe this year. And that's because it did. We left Corpus around 10:00 am and arrived in Sacramento at 7:30 Pacific time. After the 2 1/2 hour drive to South Lake Tahoe, it was close to 1:00 am our time zone. We stopped in town for a Denny's breakfast then off to bed.

Sunday- December 5th

The next morning we slept a bit late, but we did get up in time for a quick pan-cake before Mass at St. Therese. We wasted most of the rest of the day in Caesar's. I lost my first $100. It was a cold sunny day, but we weren't yet acclimatized. Later we grocery shopped at the Raley's in order to have eggs and stuff for breakfast. They had some rotisserie chicken there also so we ate a lighter dinner that evening.

Monday- December 6th

It was about mid-morning when we got up. The temperature was even colder than yesterday. We debated leaving the room at all. I finally decided to brave the cold and did a short walk around the resort property and caught these pictures in the late morning.

When I got back to the room, everyone there was already getting cabin fever, but we didn't have a clue what to do in this cold weather. Aida suggested we check out the snow mobile rentals that we had read about on the internet. A call to them revealed they had a group going out at noon. They wanted us there at 11:00 to get outfitted, so we needed to leave the room in the next 15 minutes if we were to make it. Remy read off our Visa numbers so we were committed to the trip.

Here are some photos of the day's trip that were extracted from the movie camera.

And here are a few pictures using my Fuji camera. They have a bit more detail to them:
